recycling program

Our paint pots are made in the USA and are comprised of No. 5 polypropylene that is food grade, BPA free, lead and heavy metal free, and phthalates safe. They contain no animal-derived products or any chemicals or components known to cause cancer.

Our paint pots can’t be recycled through most curbside programs due to their small size. To solve this problem, we have partnered with a local recycler here in Portland to accept your clean and dry paint pots!

⚠️ Due to the closure of our workshop location in May 2026, our Paint Pot Recycling Program ended on April 30th.  ⚠️

Our #5 paint pots are fully recyclable, however they are too small for most curbside recycling programs, many of which have minimum container size requirements of 6 ounces or more. Our paint pots are less than 1 ounce.

We recommend you find a specialty recycler in your area that accepts screw-on and pull-off plastic “caps”. This will ensure that they are handled separately from larger #5 plastics and don’t get stuck in recycling equipment not meant for smaller containers.

If you’re in the Portland Metro area, you can recycle our paint pots with “caps” at James Recycling Depot. https://jshrecycling.com/

We regret having to discontinue this mail back program. Thank you for recycling.
